The Rain Rover is an umbrella with a retractable leash built into its handle. It is designed for dog walkers who find themselves walking their dog in the rain, with the dog leash in one hand, the umbrella in the other and no hand available to carry a package or pick up poop.

The idea for the Rain Rover originated on a rainy night in 2004 when the inventor found himself in the above situation. After two years of research and development, a mechanism was developed to release and retract a leash with the touch of a finger producing a sturdy umbrella that is easy to open, comfortable to hold and large enough to protect the dog walker.
